Orange and chocolate is an amazing combination. I tried to make these cookies bit “healthier” and therefor I use fructose instead of white granulated sugar. Adding fructose makes me feel tiny bit better when I give a small bite to my little son who can detect any secret munching of his parents
1 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup of fructose
1/2 cup of butter
2 tablespoons of milk
Juice and zest from 1/2 orange
chocolate chips or similar
Heat the oven (380 F/ 190 C) and prepare a baking pan (the best if you use a baking paper on the bottom)
Cream together butter and sugar, add one egg, milk, orange juice and orange zest. Use hand mixer if needed.
Add flour, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips.
Scoop with a small small balls of dough on the baking pan and bake for about 15 minutes (well, if your cookies are smaller, bake shorter, if bigger, bake longer )
Fructose or a fruit sugar is a sweetener. The advantage of fructose is that it is rapidly absorbed into the blood stream and it does not cause a quick rise and fall in blood glucose levels. It breaks down in your liver and doesn’t provoke an insulin response. As any other sugar though, it should not be consumed in access, otherwise it can lead to obesity, dental caries and many other problems related to hight intake of sugar.
