Yoga translates as “unity” and the system of yoga is a harmonious system that unites body, mind and spirit. Hatha yoga is probably the most well-known type of yoga that involves practice of postures (asanas) that align muscles, bones and skin. During the class we pay attention to our breath, too. Each of the poses is held for couple rounds of breath. This bring our awareness to the present moment and alignment of the body.

The typical class starts with a short centring and meditative practice, followed by pranayama (practice of breathing techniques), warm ups, san salutations, standing, seated, prone and back asanas. Every class is completed with shavasana (relaxation) when the body has an opportunity to integrate the benefits of the practice and release. Yoga offers a great balance between activity and rest and therefor promotes general well-being on all levels.

If the poses “flow” one after the other, it is hatha/flow. Even during the flow I encourage my students to pay attention to the alignment of their body and hold the pose for couple rounds of breath.

One class is 60 minutes long.

The classes take place in Caveland in Karterados. If the weather permits we practice on outdoor terrace overlooking the local village and Aegean sea.

All the props and mats are provided.
